Coltrain Onsite Fleet Care press coverage: the original reporting

One year after the company's initial launch, Coltrain Onsite's growth story and the announcement of its proprietary field service app, SHIELD, landed across trade and regional business press. This press coverage roundup pulls together the outlets that broke the news.

Fleet Maintenance Magazine

Coltrain Onsite Fleet Care was featured in a Fleet Maintenance Magazine article on Coltrain's field service app SHIELD.

Fleet Maintenance Editor in Chief John Hitch has covered Coltrain Onsite since its first year in business, from the company's 2025 launch announcement, to the October 2025 cover feature, to this year's SHIELD story. "SHIELD puts the inspection, parts, and time tracking into one application," Kevin Coltrain told Hitch, describing how the tool is built to simplify the technicians' workflow.

Indianapolis Business Journal reporter Susan Orr spent time with the brothers in early August, then published "Hitting the road: Fleet-vehicle company seeks to balance growth, quality". Orr's piece traced the jump from ten employees to more than 100 in a single year, and pressed Kyle Coltrain on the company's expansion into new markets. Based on interest from applicants, Kyle said, the company could choose to ramp up its hiring even faster, but instead is "sticking to our mindset of pace and profitable growth versus getting as big as we can as fast as we can," he told her.

Jacksonville Business Journal

Jacksonville Business Journal reporter Mauricio La Plante published a piece highlighting Coltrain's Northeast Florida growth: eight new technicians and a service manager hired in the first coast this past year alone, in a market where Kyle Coltrain himself lives. The article also dug into why Coltrain hires the way it does, in an industry where consolidation has pushed some competitors toward headcount quotas over quality. "We only hire A level technicians, and that gives us the utmost confidence," Kyle Coltrain said.

Biz New Orleans

Biz New Orleans editor Kelly Hite's article covers Coltrain's Southeast Louisiana operations and its growth to 12 employees, ten technicians and two field leaders, serving customers like Rouses Markets, where Coltrain is the primary fleet maintenance provider, along with Community Coffee, the Livingston Parish school system, and first responders in Tangipahoa Parish, where Coltrain services fire trucks.
