We are thrilled to announce that Coltrain Onsite Fleet Care is featured on the October cover of Fleet Maintenance Magazine! This football-themed feature, titled "Mobile Blitz," highlights what our founders, Kyle Coltrain and Kevin Coltrain, learned on the football field and how it connects to Coltrain Onsite Fleet Care’s vision, as they write the next chapter of their mobile fleet maintenance family legacy, and how they plan to support customer fleets in their routes across the field and into the endzone.
Coltrain Onsite Fleet Care is a third-generation family business, inspired by and carrying forward the tradition of what Kyle Coltrain and Kevin Coltrain’s grandfather, Bob Dickinson, started in 1997. Kyle and Kevin have continued this legacy, focusing on hiring the best Technicians and fostering a family-like environment. Coltrain prioritizes quality over quantity, ensuring that our Technicians are valued and supported. Kyle and Kevin's football experiences have greatly influenced their approach to leadership and winning in the mobile maintenance space. Both brothers played football at various levels, with Kyle being a wide receiver in college at UCF and Kevin playing as a fullback in high school. A generation prior, their father, Ted Coltrain, and uncle, Mike Dickinson, both played football at UCF. And their grandfather, Bob Dickinson, started the legacy, playing on the Oberlin College football team.

In an exclusive interview with John Hitch from Fleet Maintenance Magazine, Kyle and Kevin Coltrain shared their vision for Coltrain Onsite and their commitment to their team. Here are some highlights from the interview. To read the full story, click here.
John Hitch: What do you want your mark to be in the industry?
Kyle Coltrain: Kevin and I share a vision of creating a forever family within our company. We strive for zero employee turnover and aim to find the highest quality technicians in the industry. We want them to retire with this company. Our goal is to maintain a quality over quantity mindset and never sell the business. We care deeply about our people and want to ensure they are treated as valued individuals, not just profit centers.
John Hitch: How do you maintain teamwork and quality across different regions?
Kevin Coltrain: We believe in hiring entrepreneurial-minded field leadership and fostering a culture of internal competition. Our teams in different regions are motivated to outperform each other, but we also share best practices to ensure everyone improves. We give our team members a lot of autonomy and trust them to make the best decisions for their local markets.
John Hitch: What sets mobile maintenance apart from traditional brick-and-mortar shops?
Kyle Coltrain: Mobile maintenance offers significant cost savings and efficiency for fleets. We come to our customers during off-hours, reducing downtime and eliminating the need for drivers to take vehicles to a shop. This approach aligns with the just-in-time delivery model that is becoming increasingly important in today's market.
Football-Inspired Leadership
Kyle and Kevin's football experiences have greatly influenced their approach to leadership and winning in the mobile maintenance space. Both brothers played football at various levels, with Kyle being a wide receiver in college at UCF and Kevin playing as a fullback in high school. Their grandfather, Bob Dickinson, also played college football at Oberlin College.
Kyle Coltrain: "Football is the ultimate team sport. You could have the best quarterback in the world, but if the offensive line isn't blocking, he's getting sacked. This mindset translates directly to our business. We could have the best technicians, but if we don't have best-in-class support staff, we're not setting our team up for success."
Kevin Coltrain: "Just like in football, our technicians form a brotherhood. They work long days outdoors, relying on each other to get the job done. This camaraderie and teamwork are essential to our success."

As we continue to grow, we remain committed to our core values: Safety, Trust, Purpose, Family, Entrepreneurial, and Proudly American. We look forward to serving our team members and customers with the same care and dedication that continues to define the legacy Coltrain Onsite Fleet Care across three generations.
